Title
Rules and Forms | Appellate Procedure: Record in Felony Appeals (Action Required)
body
Summary
The Appellate Advisory Committee recommends amending the California Rules of Court to clarify what must be included in the record in criminal felony appeals. The recommended amendments will help reduce the number of appeals in which augmentation or correction of the record is necessary, decreasing court clerks’ workload and resulting delays. The proposal originated from a recommendation of the former Chief Justice’s Appellate Caseflow Workgroup.
Recommendation
The Appellate Advisory Committee recommends that the Judicial Council, effective January 1, 2027, amend rule 8.320 of the California Rules of Court regarding felony appeals to clarify what must be included in the record.
