Recommendation
The Civil and Small Claims Advisory Committee recommends that the Judicial Council, effective January 1, 2027, amend California Rules of Court, rules 3.891 and 3.894 to reflect the changes in law made by Assembly Bill 1523 related to cases that may be ordered into mediation. The committee also recommends reorganizing rule 3.891 to place court-ordered mediation and stipulated mediation into separate subdivisions.
